On the morning of June 3, 2023, the opening ceremony of the Ministry of Industry and Trade's Open Sports Festival 2023 took place at the Ministry's headquarters located at 54 Hai Ba Trung, Hanoi. This year's sports festival spanned two days from June 3 to June 4, 2023, in Hanoi.
The sports festival served as a response to the launching ceremony of the Workers' Month and the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health in 2023. Additionally, it also celebrated the 72nd anniversary of the Traditional Day of Industry and Trade (May 14, 1951 - May 14, 2023).
Among the attendees of the opening ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, and Ms. Nguyen Minh Hue, Director and Chairman of the Trade Union of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Also present were leaders from various departments, MOIT inspectorates, and the office of the Ministry, as well as representatives from universities under the Ministry.
Representing the Institute were Mr. Nguyen Van Hoi, Director, Mr. Ta Duc Tuan, Chairman of the Institute's Trade Union, and several athletes and officials.
This year's Open Sports Festival of the Ministry of Industry and Trade holds significant meaning as it resumes after a prolonged period affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, which greatly impacted the well-being of union members and employees. The festival provides an opportunity to strengthen bonds and revive the tradition of sports in the field of Industry and Trade. It serves as an exciting platform for camaraderie and teamwork, contributing to the promotion of physical training, sports, and health, while enhancing the cultural and spiritual lives of cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers within the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The festival aims to fulfill political tasks effectively, disseminate views, policies, and innovations related to the operations of trade unions, and create favorable conditions for units to exchange and learn from one another.
More than 500 athletes from 31 grassroots union teams are participating in four sports: Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, and Tug of War. The Badminton and Table Tennis competitions are being held at the My Dinh Indoor Athletics Competition Palace, while Chess and Tug of War events are taking place at the Ministry of Industry and Trade's headquarters.
Institute of Strategy and Policy for Industry and Trade (VIOIT) has over 20 registered athletes who are officials and employees of the Institute participating in the sports festival. They will compete in Table Tennis, Chess, and Tug of War.
Following the Opening Ceremony, the Institute's table tennis athletes proceeded to compete at the My Dinh Indoor Athletics Competition Palace, while the chess competition took place at the Ministry of Industry and Trade's headquarters at 54 Hai Ba Trung.
Athlete Nguyen Van Hien, an official from the WTO and FTAs Reference Center of Institute of Strategy and Policy for Industry and Trade, won the first prize in the men's singles tennis competition for participants over 45 years old, garnering cheers from enthusiastic fans who were his fellow colleagues at the Institute.
