Activities of Khanh Hoa industry and trade in the first quarter of 2021

The Covid-19 epidemic broke out again at the end of January 2021 in 13 provinces and cities across the country, significantly affecting production and business activities. In this situation, Khanh Hoa Department of Industry and Trade always grasped the difficulties of enterprises in the industry and proposed measures to support businesses in the epidemic situation; actively solve and coordinate to implement a number of solutions of the Government, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province on stabilizing the market; curb inflation; improve the business environment; Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control in order to contribute to the socio-economic development of the province. In the first quarter of 2021, industrial and commercial production activities in the province have achieved the following results.

Industrial production: The index of industrial production (IIP) in March 2021 is estimated to increase by 2.03% over the same period in 2020; The first quarter of 2021 is estimated to increase by 0.28% over the same period last year. In which: Mining industry decreased by 10.92%; Processing and manufacturing industry increased by 0.74%; Production and distribution of electricity, gas and steam increased by 0.85%; Water supply, management and treatment of waste and wastewater decreased by 11.58%;

Some key products in the province had an increase in production index in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period in 2020: Canned beer increased by 61.26%; Electricity production increased by 31.15%; RE sugar increased by 21.72%; RS sugar increased by 8.7%; Frozen shrimp increased by 10.77%; Granite, pophia, basalt increased by 25.33%; Bird's nest and other nutritious drinks increased by 2.45%; Some products had a decrease index such as: Manufacture of other means of transport decreased by 12.86%; Other building stones decreased by 11.15%; Natural fibers decreased by 13.78%; Other frozen fish decreased by 11.65%; Cigarettes with filter reduced by 13.42%;…

Commercial activities: In the face of the complicated situation of the Covid-19 epidemic, which has spread worldwide and continues for a long time, leading to commercial activities being affected so far, purchasing power at shopping centers, supermarkets, markets, convenience stores are still low. Some businesses that import and export goods have difficulty in finding new orders due to slow consumption in foreign markets.

Provincial market: Total retail sales of goods and services in the province in March 2021 was estimated at 5,550.36 billion VND, up 0.94% over the previous month, up 19.46% over the same period last year. In the first quarter of 2021, the total retail sales of goods and services in the province was estimated at 17,466.75 billion VND, up 0.21% over the same period last year; The consumer price index (CPI) in March 2021 decreased by 0.38% compared to the previous month, increased by 1.56% over the same period last year and increased by 0.92% compared to December of the previous year; Average CPI in the first three months of 2021 increased by 0.54% over the same period last year.

Export: The export turnover of goods in the province in March 2021 was estimated at 102.7 million USD, down 16.83% compared to the previous month. In the first quarter of 2021, the province's export turnover of goods was estimated at 293.81 million USD, down 25% over the same period last year and reaching 21% of the 2021 plan. In which: State economy was estimated at 10.09 million USD, down 1.7% over the same period last year; The private economy was estimated at 131.13 million USD, down 3.72%; Collective economy is estimated at 850,000 USD, up 49.65%; Foreign-invested economy was estimated at 151.74 million USD, down 37.98%.

The main export commodity groups in the first quarter of 2021 are as follows: Bamboo and rattan products are estimated at 1.52 million USD, up 2.6 times over the same period last year; Coffee was estimated to export 19,195 tons with a value of 30.16 million USD, up 4.24% over the same period last year; Wood products were estimated at 7.96 million USD, up 1.04% over the same period last year; Cigarettes and raw materials were estimated at 8.42 million USD, down 0.3% over the same period last year; Fishery products were estimated to produce 18,140 tons of all kinds, valued at 109.08 million USD, up 16.9% in volume but down 1.57% in value over the same period last year; Textile and garment products were estimated at 25.47 million USD, down 11.97% over the same period last year; Ships are estimated to export 03 ships with worth about 94.83 million USD, down 50.21% over the same period last year;

Import: Import turnover in the whole province in March 2021 was estimated at 58.27 million USD, up 2.19 times over the previous month.

In the first quarter of 2021, import turnover in the whole province reached 140.41 million USD, down 16.38% over the same period last year and reaching 15.6% compared to the 2021 plan. In which: The state economy was estimated at 8.2 million USD, down 38.85% over the same period last year; The private economy was estimated at 66.45 million USD, up 5.22%; Foreign-invested economy is estimated at 65.76 million USD, down 28%;

Imported items in the first quarter of 2021 are mainly machinery, equipment, raw materials for production and export such as: Seafood raw materials are estimated to be 17,560 tons, up 10.18%; Raw materials and accessories for animal feed production were estimated at 4.29 million USD, up 62.38%; Raw materials for tobacco production were estimated at 7.55 million USD, up 50%; Iron and steel, other metals imported 17.76 million USD, down 34.89%; Textile raw materials are estimated at 5.23 million USD, down 15.17%; Machinery, equipment and spare parts were estimated at 36.54 million USD, down 15.87%.

Entering the second quarter of 2021, Khanh Hoa Industry and Trade sector continues to perform well the tasks and solutions for socio-economic development such as: implementing the plan of the Provincial People's Committee, implementing the Action Program No.23- CTr/TU of the Provincial Party Committee, implementing Resolution No.23-NQ/TW dated March 22, 2018 of the Politburo on orientations for building national industrial development policies to 2030, with a vision to 2045;

Continue to attract investment to fill Ninh Thuy industrial park; Urging infrastructure business investors to speed up investment and construction of infrastructure of industrial clusters to create ground for enterprises to invest in production;

Strengthen trade promotion activities, support businesses to promote products directly to consumers of foreign markets, especially countries with which Vietnam has signed free trade agreements;

Timely dissemination of guidelines, policies and laws of the State to units, individuals and organizations on production and business activities in the industry and trade sector.

Enhance area and regional linkage activities to create conditions for enterprises to expand markets, promote production and business development;

Promote the development of the domestic market in association with the Campaign for Vietnamese people to give priority to using Vietnamese goods;

Strengthening the management of e-commerce activities, creating favorable conditions for businesses to participate in brand promotion, product introduction, and goods purchase and sale through the e-commerce trading floor of Khanh Hoa province.
